Don’t you wish it were possible to bottle up memories? To preserve them in a jar that you could open up any time in order to relive the joy of precious moments?
My past few weeks have been filled with memories I wish would linger longer so I could savour more. My husband and I and our […]
I half-apologize for the silence on my blog lately. Not really, though, because things haven’t been all that silent in our home…
Two weeks ago our little girl surprised us with her arrival!
Jael was born on January 12 at 12:47pm, after a very short and uncomplicated labor. I want to […]
“House Sugary House.” That’s what my attempt at translating the phrase “Home Sweet Home” into German came out sounding like. As you can imagine, I was met with some odd looks.
For the past 3 weeks I have been enjoying time with my niece, who is currently visiting us from America (thus the lack of posts lately; we’ve been out and about quite a bit, and I am enjoying being a ”tourist” once again in the country I now consider home).
Our most recent getaway was […]
You’ve heard the saying, haven’t you? ”When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Of course there are other variations, such as ”When life gives you lemons, throw them at someone” or ”keep them, because hey, free lemons!”

Earlier today I was spoon-feeding my 8-month-old son one of his favorite snacks: applesauce. Since he is used to feeding himself finger-foods, he didn’t quite understand the concept of Mama refilling his spoon. Every time I tried to take it away to dip it back in the jar, he threw a little fit.
Sun shining; house cozy warm from the heat of the oven, which contains a 12-pound turkey; smell of apple cider and cinnamon candles; husband peeling potatoes and me kneading dough; table set and awaiting guests.
It’s Thanksgiving. Autumn is here – my favorite time of the year!

Depending on what you’ve heard about this topic, or what your experiences are, this will exert either an “Amen!” from you at this point, or […]
A Challenge from Ann Voskamp to “Count 1,000 Gifts” throughout the year. I started in April, and here are a few on my list so far:
For April 9: “A Gift Held”
Surprise roses…from my father-in-law! So thoughtful of him 🙂
For April 10: “3 Gifts Opened Up”
Thought I’d share a neat little God-story from a week ago at the airport. (By the way, we’ve arrived safe and sound in Germany and are loving it so far!)
In an effort to find the cheapest way to move our stuff overseas, we divided up our luggage between us, some friends who are also […]
